Scholar of the Month ! – Franklin Community Education Foundation

The Scholar of the Month is an award given to a Franklin Central School student that best demonstrates scholarship, character, and effort. The student is nominated by a teacher and the award is given on behalf of the Franklin Community Education Foundation, Tom Morgan and Erna Morgan McReynolds, dedicated to the memory of Wendy Brown.

Daniel Kehoe, Grade 10

Daniel Kehoe strives to always do his best work and always puts forth incredible effort in all his classes. He is a positive student and great role model for younger students. He is humble, shows great character and is always very respectful and considerate to all his classmates and all adults in the school. He strives to be a good person and friend just as much as he works diligently to be a great scholar.

Temperance Woodard, Grade 5

Temperance Woodard always arrives at Health ready to learn. She raises her hand and waits patiently to be called on. Temperance is always willing to help her classmates. Temperance stays on task, participates actively and completes all assignments in a timely manner. She exhibits this eagerness to learn in all her classes and works hard to be a good student. She is just a great person!

Evan Janitz, Grade 8

Evan is just a great kid. He’s really grown up a lot in the past year and his maturity is evident. He’s always been responsible and funny but now he’s also remembering his manners, he’s much more self-aware, he’s a wonderful friend to the other kids, a good leader, and a good example. His grades are consistently high and his attendance is perfectly acceptable. Evan is a smart student with grades to back that up. He is a leader for his class, during a fundraiser he made sure to check in and remind staff to advertise on the schools website, and to make sure everyone was keeping the returnable bottles to help boost his classes donations. He makes sure to know where his class stands for any fundraisers and their account information. He embodies this award and he really deserves it!

Caesar Lupo
April 2024

Caesar has grown in a number of ways this year. He is a very hard worker and takes learning very seriously. He does an excellent job finding ways to focus in a sometimes loud classroom. Caesar has shown a great deal of progress as a reader because he perseveres and uses the strategies he has been taught. He is excellent at math. Caesar is a good friend and will often go out of his way to help others who are sad or struggling with a task. Caesar uses good manners and shows empathy for people and animals who are hurt or sad. Caesar is a creative person who is both a great artist and a great problem-solver. Caesar has done a fantastic job in First Grade because he never gives up! He clearly demonstrates all the characteristics of the Franklin Community Education Foundation Scholar of the Month!

Katie Sanford, Grade 11

Katie has really stepped up to her new position in FFA. She has demonstrated leadership qualities and is helping organize many of the different activities that we are planning for this year. In addition, Katie is always trying her hardest in her classes and is making sure that she maintains high grades. She pushes herself to do better and if she doesn’t understand something she always finds a way to understand.

Maddox has all of the qualities to fit the criteria. He is a Kindergarten scholar that always gives his best and has wonderful character! He is a great student!

She shows leadership skills through her duties in school and within her peer group. She always shows enthusiasm towards school and it reflects through her grades where she carries a high scholastic average in all subject areas. She works hard at everything she does and is respectful of her peers and adults.

Aubrey Janitz, Grade 6

Aubrey was nominated because she has shown great growth in her attitude towards school this year. She has always been very bright and successful academically. Her contributions to Character Strong and other academic lessons are always very insightful and thoughtful. Her dedication to self-growth is aspirational from a young lady her age. I know that she will do great things with her life because of her perseverance and positive attitude.Aubrey is a wonderful young human! Her grades consistently sky high, she actively participates in class, and she is always willing to help a friend. To quote her teacher, “Aubrey’s love for learning is apparent through her hard work and determination.” In addition to her academic success, Aubrey is sweet, kind, friendly, and a true original. That originality is demonstrated in her great sense of style and fabulous outfits!

Federica embraces all the characteristics of a scholar and supportive classmate. She works extremely hard in her classes and has been wonderful about participating in “all things Franklin” while she is here! Specifically, she was diligent about pitching in to make decorations for the Veterans Day celebration and Sr. citizens Luncheon. She was passionate about playing in the band and jazz band as well!! She is very deserving of this high praise and recognition!

This student has demonstrated outstanding respect and responsibility in class. I can always count on him to be an active listener and to be ready to participate in our class discussions and activities. He follows directions quickly and without complaint. I have seen multiple instances where a peer needed help and this student has offered his assistance. He is very patient and caring with others in our class. He is kind to himself and to others. This person has great manners and doesn’t interrupt when others are talking. He remembers to raise his hand to join the conversation. Rolo Rodgers is an excellent example of a hard-working, friendly, and motivated learner.

Riley shows respect to not only her teachers, but her classmates as well. She uses her study halls wisely, and she always asks for help when she needs it. Riley participates in sports, and the student council while maintaining putting all of her extra effort into her academics. Riley is super!

Jaiylah puts forth a lot of effort to earn her good grades and strives to do her best in the classroom, helping others and being very cooperative. Her dedication and work ethic is demonstrated by her maintaining high averages in her courses. She also models a high level of maturity in the classroom with her peers. She is very kind and respectful to staff and students alike. She even displayed her exceptional team mentality, get-it-done work ethic, and her leadership qualities on the soccer field by being willing to step up as the goalie when her team didn’t have one. In conclusion, she encompasses the qualities of a FCEF Scholarship recipient in and out of the classroom.

Kordell embraces all the characteristics of a FCEF Scholarship student! He demonstrates good character, is highly respectful, puts forth an exuberant amount of effort, and embraces being scholarly! He truly is a super NICE kid! He does well in school and his behavior shows he really cares about the feelings of others. He's such a helper. Kordell often asks to assist peers and adults and he really seems to enjoy it. So whether he was running balls for soccer or helping a peer read in a small group, he is always considerate and wears a smile. :)

Once in a while, Kordell will say he's having a "hard day," and he'll seek out a friendly face for a chat or come into the Student Support Office for some "peace and quiet." That's a very mature and self-aware way for a 9 year-old to handle a "hard day." He always turns his "hard day" around by resuming his positive, kind, and helpful nature by being willing to volunteer when any assistance is needed or by having a friendly conversation with someone! — Kordell embraces all the characteristics of a FCEF Scholarship student! Logan Kingsbury

Logan is one of the most respectful students in my class everyday. He is always in school, and always brings a bright and positive attitude. He works hard in the classroom to be the most successful student he can be and demonstrates great leadership qualities through his classroom behavior, attempting to get many of his other classmates to follow suit. He is a National Honor Society member as well, inducted in the Spring of 2022.

Kyli Condon, Grade 6

Kyli has made significant growth in the past year and has started off this school year on a strong note. She is doing exceptionally well in multiple subject areas. Even when given a hard task, Kyli perseveres by asking for help from a teacher or peers, and uses her resources wisely. Kyli also strives to be a helper, good friend, and a leader within the classroom and beyond. She is always the first one to “be there” for her friends when needed. Kyli always sets the tone in the classroom to make good choices and encourages others to do the same.
